Flyte has the athletic structure suited to a Golden Retriever designed to be a working dog. Muscular and well-structured, she has a pleasing head with dark pigment and full dentition. A strong topline and powerful rear compliment her sound front assembly.

Flyte has a happy-go-lucky personality that welcomes all dogs and people into her circle of friends! This occasionally has interfered with her competitive career in agility, but you can’t help smile in spite of an NQ here and there. She is the kind of “perfect alpha” who can walk into a room full of strange dogs at doggy daycare,  and instinctively know how to handle any situation that comes up … confident without arrogance; gentle with the insecure dogs; steadfast with the bullies. She has the temperament that has become the hallmark of the Golden Retriever breed.

Flyte didn’t begin any formal training until she was over three years old! Her natural drive and intelligence made it possible to “teach an old dog new tricks.” She quickly took to the agility equipment, and simultaneously began her basic field training. Flyte and Kristen are now a team, each teaching the other more about the agility sport.

Flyte came to live with us in January 2006. I began her training that spring and finished her Novice agility titles. In 2008, Kris became Flyte’s team-mate as Kris’s first agility dog. By September 2008, after getting some extra practice in Novice, Kris and Flyte completed their OAJ title, and will move onto the Excellent classes in 2009.

I continue to handle Flyte In the field, where she is a good marker who loves birds and water work. An eager retriever, she likes to do the right thing, but exuberance can take over. She bounces right back to give it another go.

Flyte has produced two wonderful litters of puppies from field-oriented sires. She proved to be an easy whelper and devoted mother.
