Another awesome weekend in agility for Nikon, Snapshot, Zer and Trey. These wonderful dogs just keep getting better.
This past weekend at the Southern Berkshire Golden Retriever Club’s annual two day trial in Glastonbury, CT all four — Nikon, Snapshot, Zer and Trey — double Q’d! Nikon placed fourth Jumpers, Trey came in 5th place right behind his uncle (only 0.60 seconds behind) and Snapshot came in 8th place in Ex B 24″. Zer added another QQ which was also a double first placement. It was a lovely day all around even though it was pouring rain outside the horse arena we were running in.
Sunday, was not a good as Saturday but not horrible. Snapshot double Q’d again but without placements (too bad). Nikon dropped the panel jump in standard (all my fault) as he tried to change direction over the jump, but we were able to Q in Jumpers. Trey also dropped a bar in standard again my fault but a different jump than Nikon and then in jumpers he took an off course when he did not read my lateral movement (only read the forward movement). Zer had a nice run in standard too but like his uncle and brother he took dropped a bar, but had a nice run in Jumpers earning another Q and first placement.
Then on Monday, I took Snapshot and Trey to a local one day agility trial, the Mayflower Welsh Pembroke Corgi club in Amherest, NH, while Nikon stayed home resting. Snapshot earned her 16th double Q with a first place in standard. Unfortunately, she did not earn a placement in jumpers too. But with this double Q Snapshot and Nikon are now tied, each having 16 QQs towards their MACHs — Snapshot her first and Nikon his 4th. Its a horse race to see how gets to it first.
Trey earned his first QQ and it was his first double placement too — a third place in standard and a 4th in jumpers . I am still not sure how Trey and I actually Q’d in standard since at one point he took me out at the knees, somehow I got back quickly to my feet and actually finished the course. I was pretty sure I had gotten a refusal for with that “knock out” but the judge was generous on it. I guess Trey is living up to his nickname TKO (Technical Knock Out)!!
With this weekend’s results Snapshot now joins Nikon in having qualified for the 2011 AKC Agility Nationals in Lexington, VA.
