It was a weekend of obedience and Rally. Trey started the weekend off with his very first Nov B class on Friday at the American Bullmastiff Association’s obedience trial. He did a good job for his first time in the obedience ring earning his first Q and a third place!
Not to be out done by Trey, Snapshot earned her last leg needed for her CD title on Saturday at the Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston’s trial! She is now Pine Run’s Capture the Moment CD MX MXJ XF WC.
Nikon and I entered our very first Open A class on Saturday. This was my first time in Open and I am very pleased with how we both did, although we did not Q when Nikon did not come back over the jump with his dumb bell, I am still very pleased with his effort. Next time!
Sunday brought Rally novice Q’s for Nikon, Snapshot and Trey. For each this is their second Q.
We have a couple more obedience and Rally trials this spring and we’re looking forward to starting Agility soon.
Trey earned his first two Novice Standard legs both with placements and he finished off his Nov JWW title being handled by Kris, also with placements. He’s looking good and pretty fast considering we have not yet asked for speed.
Nikon continued his winning ways…earning 2 more QQs (sitting at 9 now for MACH 4) on Saturday and Sunday including another double placement on Sunday (3rd & 4th). He also Q’d in Standard in Friday and then Jumpers on Monday.
Snapshot had a good weekend even if our Q’ing rate was lower then usual since we double Q’d on Saturday with double placements but it was also a double title since we earned our MX and MXJ. On Friday although she did not Q (popped pole in Standard and a dropped bar in Jumpers) sher BEAT Nikon’s times even jumping in the 26″ class while he was running in the 24″ class!! Her times the rest of the weekend were not as good but it should her potential. She did also earn a jumpers leg on Sunday with a first place. She came 34 points short of qualifying for the 2010 AKC agility nationals. Too bad next year!!
Overall
Flyte was probably the most consistent over the weekend…qualifying in Jumpers on Friday to finished her AXJ title with Kris earning all three legs !!! Wahoo. By earning her AXJ title Flyte helped her sire Marley complete the requirements for his Outstanding Sire title (OS). Since we forgot to move her up for Saturday Flyte still ran in Ex A Jumpers but earned a bumper leg adn was just out of the placements. Flyte and Kris then went on to earn Flyte first two MXJ legs. She also earned her first AX leg as well.
Zer and Grace had a great weekend earning 2 Q’s in Ex A Jumpers and finishing off his AXJ title. Then on sunday he also earned another MX leg.

This weekend at the North Shore Kennel Club’s trial, Zer (Echo x Flyte) earned his OA title taking a first place in his class. He also earned a leg in Open Jumpers and Novice FAST both with first placements. What a good boy!

Nikon also earned a MX leg on Saturday with third placement and then on Sunday earned another MXJ leg with a second place. He also earned his 5th MXF leg with a first place.
Nikon, Zer (Echo x Flyte Pup), and Trey (Bear x Flyte pup) all earned Rally Nov B legs at the Yankee Golden Retriever Club Specialty today, May 29, 2009.
Good luck to all the “dog family” entered this weekend at the AKC Agility Nationals in Concord, North Carolina. With five dogs from the family running we’re a force to contend with.
So good luck to…
Jane Bronson and Beamer (MACH2 Fast-Trak’s Laser Flash XF ADHF)
Jean Owen and Klymer (Fast Trak’s Race U 2 The Top CD MX MXJ NF CCA)
Deb Nally and Splash (MACH Pine Run’s Ripple In Still Water OF ADHF)
Clyde Closson and Olivia (MACH Pine Run’s Liv’n It Up OF ADHF)
of course to Karen and Nikon (MACH3 ADCH Pine Run’s Photo Finish CD JH XF WCX ADHF)
What an extraordinary weekend!!!! One certainly to remember anyway….
Headed south this weekend for a three day agility in southern NJ, leaving early and I mean early (1 am) on Friday Morning to make it for a 7 am start time. I went south to run Nikon on dirt to get him ready for the AKC agility national trial at the end of March that will also be run on dirt. Fortunately, we made it home without a problem even with the impending snow storm
Nikon and I went into the weekend needing three more double Qs to finish his MACH3 and believe it or not he and I went three straight days with double Qs. Not only that but he was generally in the top 10 dogs in a very competitive area for fast Border collies. Most of the time he was the first non Border Collie in the results. He also finished the double Q’s he needed to qualify for the 2010 AKC agility national, although he still needs about 100 more points, which should be no problem for the wonderful boy.
It was such a pleasure to earn our MACH3 with the “Dog family” watching this time. Kris, my sister said that she knew after a couple obstacles that we had it since Nikon and I looked so in synch, a team.
Snapshot did not want to be over shadowed by her “uncle” earning her first three Ex B standard legs and then earning her last two legs in Ex A jumpers with a first place and a third place to finish her AXJ title!! Then on Sunday after I moved her up to Ex B Jumpers she earned her first Ex B Jumper’s leg and her first double Q!!! She earned 52 MACH points as well. Overall she was not too far behind Nikon in the results – generally in the top 15 dogs in classes of about 50 to 60 dogs. What a BABY dog! Can’t believe how she’s doing considering she’s only run in 7 AKC trials and she is just 26 months old.
I am so thankful for all the support both Nikon and I have had from our “dog family,” friends, admirers, my various instructors and of course our own family, we would not be were we are today with out you.
As I said certainly a weekend to remember.
Nikon’s Triple Double Q MACH 3 Weekend Video (all runs)
It was a beautiful weekend in the Hudson Valley at HVGRC all Golden Retriever Agility Trial not only was the weather great for the first weekend in November with temps in the upper 50s but it was great to hang out with the “family.” Snapshot was the biggest star of the weekend earning 5 out of 6 possible Qs even with debuting in Open — earning two legs in Standard with two first places and a leg in Jumpers with a first place. On Saturday Snapshot finished off her Novice FAST title with a second place and then moved up to Open FAST earning her first leg with a first place. Not to be out done by his “little” niece Nikon earned his 12th QQ towards MACH 3 with two first places on Sunday, then earned a first place in EX B FAST adding to the Ex B Jumpers Q and first place he earned on Saturday. Flyte held her own earning a third in Nov B Standard in Saturday, then two first in Nov B Standard and Jumpers on Sunday.
Today at the Cape Cod Kennel Club’s obedience trial Nikon earned his second CD leg with a first place and Snapshot earned her first leg with a fourth place in her first obedience trial at 20 months old.
