New AX title!!

Another awesome weekend in agility for Nikon, Snapshot, Zer and Trey. These wonderful dogs just keep getting better.

This past weekend at the Southern Berkshire Golden Retriever Club’s annual two day trial in Glastonbury, CT all four — Nikon, Snapshot, Zer and Trey — double Q’d! Nikon placed fourth Jumpers, Trey came in 5th place right behind his uncle (only 0.60 seconds behind) and Snapshot came in 8th place in Ex B 24″. Zer added another QQ which was also a double first placement. It was a lovely day all around even though it was pouring rain outside the horse arena we were running in.

Sunday, was not a good as Saturday but not horrible. Snapshot double Q’d again but without placements (too bad). Nikon dropped the panel jump in standard (all my fault) as he tried to change direction over the jump, but we were able to Q in Jumpers. Trey also dropped a bar in standard again my fault but a different jump than Nikon and then in jumpers he took an off course when he did not read my lateral movement (only read the forward movement). Zer had a nice run in standard too but like his uncle and brother he took dropped a bar, but had a nice run in Jumpers earning another Q and first placement.

Then on Monday, I took Snapshot and Trey to a local one day agility trial, the Mayflower Welsh Pembroke Corgi club in Amherest, NH, while Nikon stayed home resting. Snapshot earned her 16th double Q with a first place in standard. Unfortunately, she did not earn a placement in jumpers too. But with this double Q Snapshot and Nikon are now tied, each having 16 QQs towards their MACHs — Snapshot her first and Nikon his 4th. Its a horse race to see how gets to it first.

Trey earned his first QQ and it was his first double placement too — a third place in standard and a 4th in jumpers . I am still not sure how Trey and I actually Q’d in standard since at one point he took me out at the knees, somehow I got back quickly to my feet and actually finished the course. I was pretty sure I had gotten a refusal for with that “knock out” but the judge was generous on it. I guess Trey is living up to his nickname TKO (Technical Knock Out)!!

With this weekend’s results Snapshot now joins Nikon in having qualified for the 2011 AKC Agility Nationals in Lexington, VA.

Weekends Agility Results

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Another good weekend all around in agility for the crew.

Cash (Bear X Flyte) and Lora in NJ earned two excellent A standard legs with placement a second place on Friday. Now they’re even with 2 AX and AXJ legs. Soon they’re join everyone else in Ex B, Wahoo!

On Saturday, Decent day in agility today in the heat/humidity….

Snapshot Q in 24″ Ex B Standard, 4th place, popped her weaves poles and was VERY slow off the start line so no Q in Ex B JWW.

Nikon popped poles in standard, but Q’d in 24″ Ex B Jumpers 2nd place

Trey had a bad standard run, popped his weaves, fell off teeter, the missed his aframe contact, but Q’d in 24″ Ex B JWW with…….get this 3rd place behind Nikon. This is Trey’s 2nd MXJ leg (both with placements!) and his 5th straight Ex JWW leg. Granted Nikon ran the course in 30.01 and Trey ran it in 32 plus seconds! Not bad for a baby dog who just turned 2 at the end of April.

Sunday brought us downpours and scattered showers and was not much better than Saturday as far as the Qs go but had some really nice runs.

Nikon and Snapshot Q’d in Standard with a 2nd and a 4th place respectively. Trey had a very nice run but missed his aframe contact. Its interesting their times wound up — Nikon (46.11 seconds) , Trey (46.43 seconds) and Snapshot (46.86 seconds)! Nikon went pretty wide on one turn so lost some time there and Trey I was holding his Dogwalk/Teeter contacts.

Jumper was a lovely course but only Trey Q’d with. Unfortunately, I slipped and went to my knees while doing a front cross at the end of the poles with Nikon, although I was able to get my feet back under me sort of I was not really in position to handle the next couple obstacles so Nikon went off course. Snapshot popped her poles again and I am not sure why but NQ for her in jumpers.

New AXJ and MX titles

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

A 3 days full of agility and new achievements at the LEAP agility trial Granby, MA.

The weekend started off with Snapshot earning her 13th double Q with a second placement in Ex B Standard on Saturday. Trey earned his second Ex A Jumpers with weaves leg with a first placement and Nikon earned another Ex B Jumpers leg as well with a fourth place. Zer also earned his 9th MX leg with a first place in the 26″ Excellent B Standard class. So it was a red/white/blue Saturday for Memorial day weekend.

Sunday brought more great runs with Zer earning his first double placements out of the 26″ excellent standard and jumpers classes with two first placements. He also finished his MX title as well and his 6th double Q towards his MACH. Zer and Grace don’t do much AKC but when they do they are racking up those double Q’s quickly. They are also well on their way to finishing their USDAA ADCH title as well.

Nikon added another double Q to his record with more placements a 3rd and 4th, putting him at 15th QQ towards his next MACH title. With this double Q and the points earned with it Nikon has now qualifed for the 2011 AKC Agility Nationals making it his 5th year in a row.

Trey continued his run adding his last Ex A Jumpers leg with another first placement and completed his AXJ title. Snapshot had an usually off day with no Qs.

On Monday, Trey earned his first MXJ leg (his fourth excellent jumpers in a row) with a fourth place!!! Its hard to believe that this young dog has gone from Nov to Ex B in just fourteen days of trialing and continues to do it with style.

Snapshot also Q’d in Ex B Jumpers with a third place!!

A very good weekend all around.
