MACH Sassy!!!!

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Congrats to Mardi Closson and “cousin” Sassy (MACH Fast-Trak Trash Talkn Time AAD OF) for earning their MACH this weekend at the Lehigh Poodle Club’s trial. Despite the pouring rain, but with a home field advantage Sassy earned her last double Q needed for her MACH.

When Sassy began competing again after this litter – she needed 6 doubles to finish. Mardi figured it would take them a little more time but sassy went 6 for 9 since having the pups and c section.

The cool thing is this is the same trial that Daphne, Sassy’s dam (MACH Pine Run A L’il Daph’ll Do Ya OF AAD WC ADHF OD earned her MACH at two years ago.

Way to go girls!!!

Found an interesting article written by James B Spencer on GunDogMag.com, The “Ideal” Golden Retriever: How do you find such an animal?. It is a well written article that expresses the split within the breed in a thoughtful and articulate way. His thoughts and “ideals” are something every Golden breeder should strive for in their program. As it says in the standard “Primarily a hunting dog.”

Great Agility Weekend

Monday, June 8th, 2009

It was a good agility weekend all around for our “kids.”

Nikon (Marley x Rosie) earned two double Qs this weekend at the Southern Berkshire Golden Retriever Clubs Agility trial both of which included double placements (2 first placements, 1 third place and 1 second place). Wahoo!!

Not to be out done, Zer (Echo x Flyte) was entered at Riverside Canine Centers USDAA trial and earned his AD title by qualifying with along with his litter sister Hattie (Echo x Flyte). These pups also took first place in the class. Zer also finished off his Advanced Jumpers title too.

This was Hattie’s first time entered in an agility trial but she too did great. She earned her first Q in Starters/Novice Gamblers taking second place.

Meanwhile, Flash (Steeler x Rosie), Nikon’s half brother was not to be outdone in P3. He q’d in ALL FOUR of his runs! Not only that, he won three of them (including a SuperQ) and earned a third in the other.

Keep on running strong.
